Something old, something new
Yesterday, October, 25, the band opened their European tour with the first show at the Atlas Arena in Łódź, Poland. Quite a few surprises in the revamped setlist: two new tracks saw a live premiere — a guitar instrumental apparently intended to replace Contact Lost in the set, and another track, perhaps written for a new album. That’s along with Après Vous returning as a set opener, Battle Rages On back in the setlist, and a return of a Bananas tour live favourite Silver Tongue.
Video highlights of the set:
Thanks to Deep Purple Italia (which received a facelift and has been relaunched a couple of days ago) for the info and yoshin1979 for the video.

October 26th, 2015 at 20:30Would like to see 7th Heaven back in the set.
October 26th, 2015 at 20:34good gig. Ian in good shape, although he was coughing more often towards the end, but did well. The other new track was a short Steve Morse instrumental sounding a bit like Contact Lost. some big hits missing from the setlist which I think is a good idea 🙂
October 26th, 2015 at 20:42A live recording of THAT se t would be nice
October 26th, 2015 at 20:43It’s great that they bring back songs like Silver Tongue, Demons Eye and TBRO among others. Keeps them fresh and on their toes ? Did I say they’re a truly GREAT band as well?
October 26th, 2015 at 20:48Thanks for the mention Nick!
October 26th, 2015 at 21:09Great to hear some more Morse-era stuff! New song reminds me of Bloodsucker a bit…
October 26th, 2015 at 21:47Great concert. Thank you! 🙂
October 26th, 2015 at 21:54So it looks like the entire Magnificent Seven tracks I look forward at each gig are no more…?

October 26th, 2015 at 23:47Four of them still are , but gotta make room for more newer and obscure tunes to keep it fresh
October 27th, 2015 at 06:20Why not Norway this time??
October 27th, 2015 at 06:40It isn’t a Purple show without them…just extend the show…??
October 27th, 2015 at 07:48??
HardRockPete says: “It’s great that they bring back songs like Silver Tongue, Demons Eye and TBRO among others.”
Is Demon’s Eye really in the setlist? If it is, what a great news!
DP will play two gigs in June in Finland. Welcome!!
October 27th, 2015 at 07:59Today it will be my first time with Deep Purple (in Ostrava). I hope they will play Highway star for me…
October 27th, 2015 at 08:44Return from Brasil we are waiting SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE SCREAMING. Please!!!!
October 27th, 2015 at 10:46I think Don sounds great. Keys are a little more in front of the mix and a bit more heavy. Gillan will never give up but his voice has definitely “evolved”. It’s ok we still love him.
October 27th, 2015 at 11:38I’m glad to see them change the set list a bit but anyone that goes to Purple concerts all the time has already seen these changes. Demons Eye, Silver Tongue and The Battle Rages On have all been played before. When I spoke to Ian Paice before a concert on the last US tour, I asked him if they could play a couple of songs they have never played before like Smooth Dancer and Flight Of The Rat. When I suggested them his eyes lit up and he said to Don Airey who was there at the time see I told you so! I thought maybe there was a slight chance something would come from that. Oh well glad to here something new and can’t wait for the next album!
October 27th, 2015 at 12:37Still no dates for Denmark, yikes …..
October 27th, 2015 at 13:22FANTASTIC !
October 27th, 2015 at 18:24Yes – “The battle rages on” is back. Sounds like Purple humour to me – welcome back to Ritchie in June 16 when they are both touring in the same territory. See you there!
October 27th, 2015 at 20:39Wow ,they sound great!!!!! New song sounds extremely promising I cant wait for a new album from Deep Purple. I have a good feeling about the follow up to Now What?1 Hope they tour the USA again in support of it!!!! Great stuff!!!!!
October 27th, 2015 at 21:35Well, at least DP post Blackmore DID deliver one decent album since TMIB left.
