Hi all,

I thought I'd share this with you guys. I saw DP in Durban and was so blown away a friend and I drove up to JHB [Johannesburg. Ed. note) the next weekend to watch them again. We resolved to try and get their autographs afterwards and managed to sneak into an after concert function where we met the band and got our autographs from all the members. They were really friendly and spoke to us at length. There Dereck (my friend) and I started chatting to IG, just the three of us, and he starts yakking on about DP through the years and then unprompted starts attacking TMIB. I'm standing there thinking "Jesus, this is Ian Gillan and he's telling this to me". Well to quote him he said "Ritchie Blackmore has dragged this band down for the last 20 years" amongst other gems. It was amazing, we spoke to him alone for about 10 minutes and then had a chance a talk to all the other mebers as well who were really brilliant. By the time we left they had locked the place up and we took about 2 hours to get out and had to walk about 4 km back to our car but it was worth it!
